Trade expertise, not referrals
Home repair is what our leadership has done professionally for twenty years. Knowing the work — and the suppliers and subcontractors behind it — means donations buy more repair per dollar.
About us
Help Missouri came out of twenty years on job sites across the state — and the families we kept meeting who had nowhere to turn.
Our background
Director Brown has worked in general construction for two decades and managed more projects than he can count. Across those years, one thing never stopped bothering him: “I met good people, in poverty, that I was unable to help.”
In early 2024 he decided to do something about it. He founded Help Missouri, personally funded its startup, and spent roughly a year working through the approval process. Today the organization is a state-licensed, IRS-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.
There is no shortage of nonprofits. Help Missouri was built to be a different kind: one that takes the expertise already sitting in the construction industry and uses it to directly help the people — not to study the problem, and not to hand families a list of phone numbers.
Marketing is the hardest part of running an organization that depends entirely on donations, and we know it. We're getting the word out however we can, including outreach through KRMS Radio. As Director Brown puts it: “I am confident in my abilities and that there are enough good people out there to make it work!”
Qualified team members are already in place, ready as operations expand.
Our mission
“To help Missouri citizens live sustainably, by providing home repairs and assistance for those in poverty.”
What sets us apart
Home repair is what our leadership has done professionally for twenty years. Knowing the work — and the suppliers and subcontractors behind it — means donations buy more repair per dollar.
Our aim is that 80% of every donation goes straight to the people in need once we're established. While we're getting started, that figure is 60–70%.
We serve Missouri citizens, and the organization was funded out of a Missourian's own pocket to get it off the ground. Every dollar raised stays in the state.
Credentials
Before you give to any charity, you should be able to check it. Here is ours, in full.
Don’t take our word for any of this. Enter our EIN at the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search and you will see our 501(c)(3) determination, our public charity status, and the date it took effect — straight from the IRS, not from us.
