Home repairs
Roofs, floors, plumbing, heat, structural safety — the repairs that decide whether a house stays livable. Our team comes out of the general construction field, so the work is done properly and the donation goes further.
Serving Missouri families
Help Missouri is a state-licensed, IRS-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We use two decades of general construction experience to repair failing homes and provide food, clothing and financial assistance to Missourians living in poverty.
Founded in 2024 by a Missouri contractor who spent twenty years meeting good people in poverty he couldn't help. Help Missouri exists to change that answer.
How we help
We are not a referral service. When a family qualifies, the work gets done — by people who have spent their careers doing it.
Roofs, floors, plumbing, heat, structural safety — the repairs that decide whether a house stays livable. Our team comes out of the general construction field, so the work is done properly and the donation goes further.
Direct aid for households caught in a hard season — the kind of short-term help that keeps a small emergency from turning into a lost home.
Short-term emergency help with basic necessities, so families can put what little they have toward staying housed rather than choosing between the two.
Our mission
“To help Missouri citizens live sustainably, by providing home repairs and assistance for those in poverty.”
Why we started
Director Brown spent two decades running projects in general construction. Over and over he met good people, living in poverty, whose homes were falling down around them — and had no way to help them.
In early 2024 he founded Help Missouri and personally funded its startup. After roughly a year of approvals, the organization is state-licensed and IRS-registered, with qualified team members ready as operations grow.
Plenty of nonprofits exist. Help Missouri was built to directly help the people, using construction expertise instead of paperwork.
Incorporated in the State of Missouri
Who qualifies
We follow the poverty guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. If your household income falls below 150% of that level, you're encouraged to apply.
Recipients are chosen by financial status and quality of life. Every situation is different, and because our funding comes entirely from donations, we start with those in greatest need.
Why the need keeps growing
Because of Missouri's geography, the state is frequently visited by natural disasters — ice storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds and flooding. The State Emergency Management Agency's public record lists federal disaster declarations going back to the 1950s, with several in a single recent year alone.
Storm damage is not distributed evenly. A household with insurance, savings and credit repairs the roof and moves on. A household already living below the poverty line does not — the tarp stays up, the damage spreads, and a difficult situation becomes a permanent one. Those are the families Help Missouri was created to reach.
Your donation is what determines how many of them we can get to.

Where your money goes
Of your donation goes directly into home repairs and aid while we get established.
Our target once the organization is fully established and operating at scale.
Processing fees when you give by check — and your gift is deductible to the full extent.
Many Missourians living in poverty are also living in poor housing conditions. Together we can change that — one home at a time.
